Friends of the Library
"... to support, extend and enhance
the work of the Scott County Public Library"
are: The Friends
of the Scott County Public Library is a nonprofit
organization which serves as a support group for the
library. Since the founding in 1975 the Friends have
provided much needed volunteer staffing, have purchased and
donated materials, furnishings and equipment for the library
and have provided a wide variety of programming, especially
for the children's library.
What we do:
Friends have worked with other libraries and with the State
on legislative issues and have provided valuable public
relations assistance to keep the public informed about new
acquisitions and technology. Friends have also served as an
extension into the community, spearheading many
collaborative projects and partnerships.
The Friends are active in a variety of ways:

literacy in our community is an ongoing priority. The
Friend's "Celebrate with Books" project strives to put a
book in the hands of every child, who might not have that
opportunity. We believe every child should have a book to call his own and the chance to develop a lifelong love of reading. Through the Celebrate with Books program, books are placed in the hands of children who may never have the opportunity to own their own books. Help us reach these children by applying for assistance.
