Library Services Director (Full Time)

Job Description:  Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Library Services Director is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the library and acts in place of the Executive Director in his/her absence. Participate in the development, recommendation, and administration of library policies, procedures, and processes. Works collaboratively with all departments, the community, and/or external agencies. Supervises higher management level positions, department budgets, and services on the Leadership Team.

Schedule:  Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends, and require flexibility to serve on-call as needed. Must work at least 37.5 hours a week. On-site attendance is required 

Salary:  $80,000 a year

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Master’s degree in one of the following professions preferred: Library and Information Science Degree from an ALA-accredited school program, master’s in business administration, or master’s in education.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience of progressively increasing levels of administrative and management responsibilities.
  • Three years of professional library experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a Professional I or II KDLA certification.
  • Valid driver’s license for transportation needs.
  • HR experience preferred.

Media Coordinator (Full Time)

Job Description:  Under the direction of the Marketing Director, the Media Coordinator is responsible for planning, writing, and managing communications regarding library development, services, and programs. Duties may require independent judgement and action within specific parameters.

Schedule:  Required to work 37.5 hours a week. Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am-5:30pm. On-site attendance is required. Work schedule is non-negotiable.

Salary:  $18.50

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience and training in communications and/or public relations to include social media, video recording and editing, research, creative writing skills, and writing content for the website.
  • Writing for SEO is a plus

Outreach Library Assistant (Full Time)

Job Description:  Under the direction of the Outreach Manager, the Outreach Library Assistant is responsible for providing access to the library’s materials and services mostly outside the library, at community events, partnership facilities, and other library functions.

** This position will serve in the Outreach Department and assist with setting up our mobile libraries. Mobile libraries are satellite library sites that offer the same services as our main location in smaller cities in Scott County. Tasks would include driving a truck with a trailer, moving mobile shelving, setting up equipment, and providing full library services, such as reference, computer assistance, circulation, and programs. The selected individual will also work in the main library every other weekend and may assist with other outreach stops. ***

Required Education and Experience:           

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Library experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history required.
  • Ability to obtain a KDLA Paraprofessional Certification.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Salary:   $18.00/hour

Hours:  Mostly nights and every other weekend.
