Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a free service that allows patrons to borrow books from other libraries if Scott County Public Library does not own them. Adult Services staff who work at the Information Desk welcome the opportunity to speak with patrons about their specific needs and assist with completion of the request form.

Patrons must have a Scott County Public Library card in good standing.

Patrons may have up to three (3) requests on order at a time. There are some restrictions on what may be borrowed through ILL, such as genealogical items, reference materials, audiovisual (DVD and microfilm), and any item that has been published in the last six months.

Please allow a minimum of two weeks for interlibrary loan process.

The loan period varies depending on the lending library’s policy, but is typically two to three weeks. Some libraries may allow one renewal, but requests must be made at least four days prior to the due date. You will be contacted when a renewal decision is made.

Overdue interlibrary loan books are subject to a fine of $1.00 per day per item.

Patrons are responsible for any lost or damaged items. Such costs are determined by the lending library and will be posted to your SCPL card account.
