With the world celebrating World Music Day on June 21st, people are encouraged to make music outside in their neighborhoods. It also gives us an opportunity to consider music from around the world. Part of loving music is exploring new sounds. Even if we don’t always understand the words, music can transcend these boundaries, appealing directly to our emotions. For the guitarists, check out Ali Farka Touré, whose low-pitched vocals and sparse accompaniment highlight this West African’s unique style.
Some his best works are his self-titled album, Ali Farka Touré, and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Ry Cooder in Talking Timbuktu.
