Charles Gregory
Painting
About the artist
Charles Gregory had an early childhood desire to paint artistically that was deferred until adulthood. He began painting in his late forties because an artist friend gave him some pastels and told him to go find something he liked and capture it on paper. He did. Since then, he has continued to hone his skill and love of painting. Capturing nature with with his paint knife and oil pastels is a great love for Charles.
As a young native of Georgetown, Kentucky, Charles fished and hunted many Scott County haunts with his dad, so his love of the landscape in Scott County comes very naturally. A particular favorite of his is painting the Elkhorn Creek. When asked why he liked painting, he responded, “It allows me to express my feeling for the environment and the beauty of creation.”
Mr. Gregory graduated Georgetown College in 1967 with a double major in Business and Commerce. He went on to get a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from New Orleans Baptist Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has explored many roads professionally, and now in his retirement he is enjoying painting and showing his work full time. He currently resides in Bourbon County, Kentucky.
