This gallery opening will feature the gold leaf/oil-on-canvas works of Devan Carpenter. This specific body of work is a tribute to the artist's paternal grandmother. This exhibit represents the artist's journey to get to know her grandmother as a robust human. Watch this interview of Devan Carpenter on the upcoming gallery opening.

Devan Ryan Carpenter is an emerging artist who resides in Frankfort, Ky. Her brightly colored work largely features landscapes and portraiture done in a modern romanticism. She strives to paint “scenes that take the familiar and re-imagine them in a world of the unexpected.” Oils paired with metal leaf are her primary medium, though, she does enjoy sketching in charcoal and pastels. Her work is influenced by the French Impressionists, the Austrian expressionist, Gustav Klimt and the contemporary master, Ed Sandoval.

The Art Gallery located inside the Scott County Public Library is a unique space that provides opportunities to enhance the community’s appreciation of the arts. Curated exhibits featured in the Gallery are family-friendly, easily accessible, open to the public during regular library hours and are free of charge.

The Gallery Curator plans and facilitates two types of exhibits. Solo shows present a large body of work from one artist; while potpourri shows feature the work of a group of artists, each of whom have more limited bodies of work or experience.
